ince its launch in April of this year, Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar has brought some solid competition to the massively multiplayer online game market, registering in the range of 4 million characters and claiming title of second largest MMORPG. Now developer Turbine hopes to attract more players to the power of the ring by offering a precccious free trial to curious gamers.
The trial, open to fans in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, allows 7 days of free play in the online world of Middle-earth. When the trial is up, players can either fight the addiction and never touch it again, or become a slave to the ring and purchase the game online or through retail, while keeping the characters they created during their trial play.
Gamers interested in giving LOTRO a try can head over to http://trial.lotro.com where they will be greeted by a lengthy 3.9GB download and a seductive female elf that is almost as feminine as Legolas. Almost.
