User scores 6hrs of Halo 3, 71 million hour ban
box Live user "Scar" managed to lift a download of Halo 3 Epsilon, a limited version of the third Halo installment reserved for Bungie and Microsoft employees, and got in a good six hours of game time before being kicked from the server. Microsoft thought this was super funny. So funny in fact, that they gave him a friendly little message the next time he logged into Live.

The notification that greeted Scar, read:

"You have been suspended from Xbox Live. You will not be able to sign in to Xbox Live until 12/31/9999."

Ouch, that's sure to leave a scar! I hope he believes in the idea of cryopreservation. The 17-year-old user was quite a completionist and had a GamerScore of over 61,000, but has no plans to appeal his account ban. Instead, he supposedly claims he can hop right back on Live under a new gamertag.

A handful of other users who exploited the Halo 3 Epsilon download have also reportedly received the 7,992 year suspension. Microsoft has declined to comment on the bannings.
