New Final Fantasy IV DS remake pics and info

 ydia fanboys will be pleased! Recent scans out of V-Jump for the Final Fantasy IV DS remake are showing off the green-clothed summoner in computer rendered glory, along with not-so-close friend Cecil and Yang "amazing 'stache" Fang Leiden. In addition to shiny images, the write-up also reveals new changes to the game, as well as a finalized release date.
Aside from the obvious visual makeover, Final Fantasy IV's battle system will see some pretty big changes. Characters in your party will now be able to acquire abilities from previous party members, effectively making characters with unique abilities....not so unique.
My Japanese reading skills are pretty rough, but if I've interpreted this right, the task of passing on these abilities will be handled by a new Moogle rip-off mascot. Described as a teruterubauzu (paper doll that children pray to for good weather), the creature is known as a Pochika and records the abilities of party members so they can be passed on later. It seems these little guys can also be employed in battle.
Oh, and that release date? V-Jump is stating December 20 for Japan, so maybe a mid-summer release for North America if history is anything to go by. Clicky the scans below for a much larger look.
