e're only on the first day of TGS and Squeenix is already showing its love for a bunch of spin-off titles in the Kingdom Hearts universe, though it's somewhat unlikely gamers will show the same love for the choice of names. More news on that, as well as assorted tidbits of other non-Kingdom Hearts game details from the RPG-milker in our news dump.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, featuring the same name as the secret trailer at the end of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, is seemingly set prior to the original KH time period and features new protagonists. The game is being developed for the PSP.
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days is a DS title supporting up to 4 players and coincides with KHII events. Players take control of Roxas, Axel, Saïx and others while working for Organization XIII. The title seems to be synonymous with Roxas' period of existence, though we think it's really some kind of weird fraction for the number of seconds it took Square Enix to think of this bizarre name.
Kingdom Hearts: Coded will be a mobile phone game taking place between KH1 and KH2 and will see Sora as the playable character. Except not really, because it's only a virtual Sora created by a computer. Can you feel the emotional attachment?
Last on the list of spin-off news is a rumor that there's a fifth and final title in the FFVII Compilation known as Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. This rumor is entirely unconfirmed at the moment, but moles are claiming it will pop up before the end of TGS. The name helps support the rumor, as it follows the alphabetical progression of the series: Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, Endless Crisis. One thing's for sure, the compilation certainly is feeling endless.
A new Dissidia Final Fantasy trailer was shown in a private screening at Square's booth, and while it didn't reveal any major new details, it did add one more character to the roster. Squall Leonhart joins the growing list of characters in this experience point-driven fighting game featuring a wide variety of heroes and villains from the FF universe.
Wings of the Goddess, the fourth expansion for Final Fantasy XI's online world, has received a worldwide release date of November 20th. Official accessibility of the expansion's content will go live on the 22nd. Dancer will reportedly join as the 19th playable job class in the game.
Quietly last, but not least, is the announcement of a new Front Mission title. Details are not yet available, but the game is in development for the DS.
