Chinese MMO bans men playing as women

urora Technology, a subsidiary of the Chinese-based MMO operator Shanda, has announced that it is freezing the accounts of male players who attempt to play as female characters in its MMORPG King of the World. Aurora insists that only female players can play as female characters in the game, and it's setting some steep requirements to ensure hope this rule sticks.
Gamers who choose to play as a female character will be required to prove their biological sex using a webcam in order to get the OK on their account. Amusingly enough, there seems to be no requirement for proving your biological sex when choosing a male character, meaning Aurora doesn't care if women play as males.
Despite the highly convenient fact that this allows Aurora employees to check out women on their webcams to pass time at an otherwise boring job, I'm sure Aurora is just looking out for the honesty of its players, right? In any case, it's unlikely this rule will become popular in the long run. Afterall, as we all know, MMORPG stands for Mostly Men Online Role Playing Girls.
