ccording to a source close to Sony, the PlayStation Store will be home to downloadable PSP games next year, much like the service currently offered for PS3 content. Also reported to debut are additional content for released games, demos for UMD and downloadable games, classic PSOne titles, and TV content. The service looks to attract third-party publishers as it allows them to dodge costs associated with retail, making game releases all the more affordable.
Currently seven downloadable games are said to be in development internally, consisting of three action games, two music-related titles, a racing game and a shooter. The titles will be between one half to one third of the size of an average UMD title and will feature anywhere from two to ten hours of gameplay.
The PSP content will be wirelessly accessible from the PlayStation Store via hotspots, and can also be accessed with a PlayStation Network account by way of a PC and USB cable, though no content will be downloaded to the PC. The PC service is planned to start this winter in America, while the PSP service will appear in 2008.
