Katamari Damacy creator designing playground

eita Takahashi has some bizarre ideas; he's the creator of Katamari Damacy afterall. His latest dream, while still very bizarre, has little to do with games. Takahashi announced during his keynote at the Nottingham GameCity festival that he will be making a playground for the city. He's already imagining a wind turbine with a climbing net, and decorating it with hundreds of LEDs.
The uncommon opportunity arose when GameCity director Iain Simons read a comment from Takahashi in an interview expressing the desire to build a playground. Simons pursued support from the city’s council and two universities and pitched the project offer to Takahashi, who delightfully accepted.
Speaking about his desire for such a project, Takahashi comments:

"Being totally honest with you, I’m beginning to get a bit bored making just games. I wanted something in a different area, but quite similar. Being able to move physically, to exercise, I thought that would be a good idea to start with."

He also adds with a smile, that while he wants to make it happen, he doesn't understand why everyone is trusting him so much. I'm not really sure why everyone is trusting him so much either! An illuminated wind turbine in a children's playground? How many parents are going to feel safe letting their kid play on a child-blender?
