It's a Wonderful World announced for Europe
quare Enix has revealed today that its DS action RPG, known in Japan as Subarashiki Kono Sekai (It's a Wonderful World), will be available in all PAL territories in spring 2008. The game will release under the new name The World Ends With You, a change apparently made to avoid copyright issues. Features include art design by Tetsuya Nomura and simultaneous battles across both DS screens.

The World Ends With You begins with the story of Neku Sakuraba, a 15-year-old boy with a love for music and graffiti, living in the trendy Shibuya district of Tokyo. Neku receives a cellphone message ordering him to complete a specific mission, with failure to do so resulting in death. He soon realizes he is caught in the mysterious "Shinigami Game," along with another female participant, Shiki Misaki.

Neku also discovers he is able to read people's minds, and it is with this power and the assistance of Shiki that the two must combat the "Noise," material manifestations of people's negative thoughts. A number of other characters will join you in your fight as you progress. The game incorporates modern day cultural elements from Shibuya fashion, people, food, and music, and the soundtrack features various hip hop and techno artists.

While no direct confirmation has come from Square Enix at this time, The World Ends With You is said to also be coming to North America sometime in 2008.
