NPD November US video game console sales
he monthly NPD video game sales data was released today, and November holds high numbers and a few surprises. Total sales for the game industry are showing a 50% improvement for the month, with hardware, software and peripheral numbers all trumping those of last year's. The DS comes out the clear winner in hardware, with a massive 1.53 million units sold. As if that's not shocking enough, the feat was accomplished without a single title in the top 10 software. Here's the full breakdown.

All Industry Sales
Console Software: $1.3 billion
Console Hardware: $1.1 billion
Game Accessories: $243 million
Total: $2.63 billion

Call of Duty 4 (360): 1.57 million
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii): 1.12 million
Assassin's Creed (360): 980,000
Guitar Hero III (PS2): 967,000
Wii Play (w/Wii Remote) (Wii): 564,000
