t's the best time ever to upgrade your PSP and PS3 firmware! The latest updates have shockingly enabled the playing of any PS1 game on the PSP by way of Remote Play through the PS3. This includes any PS1 game disc you own, or any PS1 game downloaded from the PlayStation Store. With Remote Play via the PS3, you can access these games from any Wi-Fi hotspot, not just in the comfort of your own home.
Remote Play for PS1 games works with any PS3, including those with PS2 backwards compatibility nerfed. You can even assign what action goes to which button, making the transition to the PSP feel a little more natural. You may experience lag with some titles, namely action games. RPG's are one of the smoothest experiences - Final Fantasy VII plays perfectly on the PSP.
Just keep in mind that on multi-disc games you will be limited to the disc that is currently in the PS3 if playing from a friends' house or hotspot miles away, unless you can teach your dog to put in the next disc for you.
