COMMON QUESTIONS
Q
What is a stock image?
A
A stock image is a photo or illustration that is readily available for use in projects and thereby serves to save the designer the time and expense of having to arrange a photo shoot or find an artist. Stock images are widely used in web design, news articles, print & packaging, books & magazines, and many other uses.
Q
How can the images be used?
A
The licensing page covers which types of uses are acceptable and which are not. If you need further clarity on a specific use, feel welcome to email me.
Q
What does royalty-free mean?
A
Royalty-free refers to the right to use licensed images indefinitely without having to pay royalties on every use. By comparison, a rights managed license covers only the use or duration specified by the license and must be relicensed for other uses. My images are sold as royalty-free.
Q
Can I sell images I have purchased?
A
No, reselling my images is not legally permitted under the terms of the license. You are purchasing royalty-free use of the image within the conditions of the license, you are not purchasing ownership. I retain exclusive copyright.
Q
Can I modify purchased images?
A
Yes, you are welcome to modify the images, also known as making a derivative work. Please note that a derivative work does not change the copyright on it.
Q
Are licensed images watermarked?
A
No, all purchased images are free from watermarks of any kind.
Q
Do you offer refunds?
A
Generally not, as it is impossible to return a digital item. If there is a quality issue, such as high noise introduced by a digital camera sensor, I may consider a refund if I cannot correct the issue. If you encounter any difficulty downloading an image you have purchased, please contact me.
